Clay Club

Clay Club is a hand building class where we focus on coiling, pinch pots and slab building our creations out of clay.  Each month I provide a theme and each student designs their own project.  We start with drawing their concepts and then we formulate a plan for how they are going to turn their drawings into 3 dimensional projects.  Each artist comes out with their own unique masterpiece!

Em’s Art Shack is located 6 houses away from the middle school on Gray Avenue! I will greet them with an afternoon snack and a little free play time before we jump into clay!

Clay Club for Homeschool Kids

This Clay Club is specifically for our community’s homeschool kids! This is a hand building class where we focus on coiling, pinch pots and slab building our creations out of clay.  Each month I provide a theme and each student designs their own project.  We start with drawing their concepts and then we formulate a plan for how they are going to turn their drawings into 3 dimensional projects.  Each artist comes out with their own unique masterpiece!

The themes for this club will vary by individual.  We will determine what sorts of things they are interested in, and we will create projects around those ideas.

I am currently offering this Club on Thursdays from 10:30 – Noon.

Classes are limited to 8 students.  These classes are for kids 5 years and up.

Cost: $75/month*

*Monthly tuition reminders will be sent out the first week of each session.  No payment is required at this time.

Homeschool Pottery Club (Ages 10+)

This pottery club teaches all aspects of clay.  We will have sessions where we focus entirely on learning how to throw pottery on the wheel, and other sessions will focus on creating hand built masterpieces.  Beginners are welcome, but they must have an open mind for learning through failure.  Pottery is a VERY difficult skill to master, so having an open mind to accept that some days, the experience alone may be all that you have to show for your efforts.

Each week, our class begins with a wheel demo and I will work with each artist to help them to achieve that form.  In addition to learning pottery skills, each artist will learn the ins and outs of the clay studio: How to wedge and recycle clay, clean up their wheels, load kilns and keep a tidy studio. My hope for this class is for artists to learn throwing techniques to build functional pottery to be used for a lifetime!

We are offering this class on Thursdays from Noon to 1:30.

Classes are limited to 6 students.  These classes are for kids ages 10+.

Cost: $75/month

*Monthly tuition reminders will be sent out the first week of each session.  No payment is required at this time.

Covid: We will follow the CDC guidelines for Covid protocols.  If your child is not feeling well, please keep them home.
